In 1964, our school was approved to prepare for the "Private Chong-Yu Business Management School." President Yu You-Ren of the Control Yuan personally attended the groundbreaking ceremony (Figure 1). The term "Chong-Yu" signifies high respect for President Yu You-Ren.

Our school’s motto, "Upright Virtue, Prosperous Living," was established in 1972 as a guideline for the school’s administration. "Upright" means doing things right, "Virtue" refers to respecting ethics, "Prosperous" means valuing professionalism, and "Living" signifies employability, emphasizing the core value of "Upright Character • Practical Application."

In 1967, our school began enrolling students and established three departments: Business Management, Accounting and Statistics, and Banking Management. During the 1970s, the school underwent various evaluations by the Ministry of Education, achieving excellent results. Later, with the Ministry of Education's plan to improve national vocational education quality, the school upgraded its faculty and facilities in accordance with the policy and was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2003 to be upgraded to "Chong-Yu Institute of Technology."

After the transformation into an institute of technology in 2003, the initial departments remained unchanged (including the Departments of Applied Foreign Languages, Accounting Information, Financial Finance, International Trade, Business Management, and Information Management). In 2005, the transformation of departments began, with the original departments gradually ceasing enrollment. The last two departments (Business Management and Information Management) stopped enrolling new students in 2012, with the final graduating class in June 2016. To provide further education opportunities for students in the northern region and enhance research and industry-academia capabilities, the school established the Master’s Program in Business Management and the Graduate Institute of Cultural and Creative Design in 2013 and 2015, respectively.

In 2017, the school was renamed "Chong-Yu University of Film and Arts," focusing on a four-year and master's program system while discontinuing the five-year program.
